## Supaplex

Supaplex © 1991 Philip Jespersen and Michael Stopp / Think!Ware Development, published by Digital Integration. PC code: Robin Heydon. PC graphics: Matt Smith. Music and sound: David Whittaker. SpeedFix: Herman Perk and Maarten Egmond / Elmer Productions.

This project runs the classic DOS freeware distribution, including the original 111 levels, graphics and sounds. Its executable is **SPFIX63.EXE (SpeedFix 6.3)**, the established speed-fixed version of the original game; it is not the untouched, copy-protected 1991 retail disk and not OpenSupaplex or Megaplex.

Source download: [DOS Games Archive — Supaplex](https://www.dosgamesarchive.com/download/supaplex), using its `file.php?id=202` download. The site identifies the distribution as freeware. Original project information and documentation: [Elmer Productions](https://www.elmerproductions.com/sp/). The original archive and its bundled README.TXT and spfix63.doc are preserved unchanged in assets/supaplex.zip.

Licensing checked 2026-10-07: free availability does not establish an open-source license or blanket permission for this project's public redistribution. Elmer's [history](https://www.elmerproductions.com/sp/history.html) records permission from the creators and publisher for Elmer's own free distribution. Its [licensing FAQ](https://www.elmerproductions.com/sp/faq.html#q_license) says it cannot grant intellectual-property rights to others. Public hosting rights for this bundled DOS edition are **not confirmed**. [OpenSupaplex](https://github.com/sergiou87/open-supaplex#license) is a separate GPLv3 reimplementation; it also distinguishes its code license from the original game resources.

The playable assets/supaplex-browser.zip is reproduced by scripts/package-game.py. It differs in exactly one file: SUPAPLEX.CFG uses the game's native **bkmx** settings (Sound Blaster, keyboard, music on, effects on), replacing the download's silent **ikny** defaults. Executable, graphics, level data and sound files are byte-identical to the source archive. Player settings are only initialized on first extraction; persistent settings take precedence on later visits.

## js-dos / DOSBox

Vendored, unmodified **js-dos 6.22.60**, build c3627d34f97fcc6e98ceef7fbea6e090. Files obtained from [js-dos 6.22 current builds](https://js-dos.com/6.22/current/js-dos.js) on 2026-10-06 and pinned locally. Runtime files never fetch from that moving URL.

Copyright DOSBox Team and Alexander Guryanov. License: GNU GPL version 2; full license preserved in vendor/js-dos/LICENSE. Source: [js-dos 6.22](https://github.com/caiiiycuk/js-dos/tree/6.22) and [em-dosbox](https://github.com/dreamlayers/em-dosbox).

Note: wdosbox.wasm.js is the upstream's filename for a **binary WebAssembly module**, not JavaScript. scripts/serve.mjs serves it with application/wasm.
